What is IBM Software Value Plus? - IBM offers distribution models for maximizing your profits by reselling IBM Software, based on your clients' needs and your investment in skills.
IBM Software Value Plus organizes all IBM Software Group products into open products and the authorized portfolio.
Authorized portfolio
IBM Business Partners who have obtained authorization through Software Value Plus may resell authorized products and IBM Software ValueNet products.
Authorized products can only be acquired through those IBM Business Partners who have been authorized by IBM. There are two paths for obtaining authorization to resell products within the Authorized Portfolio:
- Authorized IBM Business Partners will have demonstrated advanced skills through certifications and approved solutions. Authorization will help ensure that clients get the right solution, reduce the risk inherent in any deployment, and increase client return on investment.
- A select portion of the Authorized portfolio will continue to be offered via Software ValueNet which was designed to facilitate the transition of certain acquisition Business Partners into IBM. Software ValueNet includes IBM Cognos® and IBM FileNet® software.

Eligibility
Authorization to resell IBM Software products is achieved at the product group level. First, determine whether the products your company intends to resell require authorization.

How to become authorized
If the products you intend to sell require authorization, follow the steps below.
- Join the PartnerWorld program
If you are not already a member of IBM PartnerWorld, join today to begin a mutually profitable relationship.
- Create a PartnerPlan
Your PartnerWorld membership administrator should maintain your company's PartnerPlan, in order to maximize the value of your relationship with IBM.
- Enroll and participate in either:
Value Advantage Plus requires an approved solution containing a product within the Product group(s) you want to sell.
SVI requires one sales and two technical certifications, in the product group(s) you want to sell.
- Apply for IBM Software reseller authorization and select Tech Data as your Value Added Distributor
- Check your authorization readiness status
Powered by IBM Cognos, the Authorization Readiness Dashboard provides IBM Business Partners their current status on Software Value Plus authorization requirements. IBM Business Partners are able to view their IBM certifications, Value Advantage Plus solutions(s), revenue attainment, value revenue ratio and agreement status' all in one place.
Software Value Plus Compliance
Business Partners are required to meet or exceed a minimum value add revenue percentage (10% from SVI and/or Value Advantage Plus) of their total eligible revenue for their approved Software Value Plus (SVP) Product Groups. Compliance reviews are carried out twice each year in March and October.
New! Â SVP compliance simplified:
10% Value Add Revenue is calculated on total eligible revenue across all approved Product Groups.
- If a Business Partner fails the 10% check across all approved Product Groups, each approved Product Group will then be checked individually.
Only SVI-eligible revenue will be calculated, which excludes:
- Government revenue and Value Advantage Plus for Government
- Small deal revenue (less than $10K in North America & Japan, less than $5K elsewhere)
- Renewals revenue
Business Partners with less than $200k in total eligible annual revenue across all Product Groups will be waived from compliance checking.

Industry Authorization //Â Steps to get Authorized
- Get Software Value Plus authorized for the product groups in your industry solutions.
- Two individuals must pass the relevant industry solution sales mastery test.
The two completed Industry solutions sales mastery tests must appear in your company's PartnerWorld profile. Business Partners who purchase the Value Package are eligible for test vouchers to cover the cost of these tests.
- Register your industry solution in the IBM Global Solutions Directory.
To participate in SVP Industry Authorization, you must have an industry-specific solution aligned with IBM's Industry Framework or future direction. The solution, either an application or a services practice, must be registered in the Global Solutions directory. Additionally, at the time of registering your solution you choose to have your solution verified, you will earn PartnerWorld points and your solution will be highlighted with other SVP Industry Authorized solutions.
- Submit industry specific client references.
Three references are required for Business Partners selling in North America and European Union countries; two are required in all other countries. Client references must be submitted into the IBM Global Solutions Directory or the Customer Reference Database.
- IBM industry board review and approval.
You will be requested to present your solution, references and industry activities to an IBM board.
Security Authorization
What is IBM Software Value Plus Security Authorization? - Software Value Plus (SVP) Security Authorization changes what it takes to qualify to sell Security focused solutions. It has more focus on demonstrated skills and less focus in certifications. In addition, it provides you more incentives when you sell security solutions containing IBM security products.
Demonstrate your security expertise and security solution to gain recognition and rewards from IBM. You must meet the criteria below before applying for Software Value Plus (SVP) Security Authorization.
- Get Software Value Plus authorized for the product groups in your security solutions by passing the individual technical certifications in each of the five product areas
- IBM Internet Security Solutions
- Infosphere Guardium
- Rational AppScan
- Tivoli Security
- WebSphere DataPower
- An individual must pass the relevant Security solution sales mastery test.
The completed Security solutions sales mastery tests must appear in your company's PartnerWorld profile. Business Partners who purchase the Value Package are eligible for test vouchers to cover the cost of these tests.
- Register your security solution in the IBM Global Solutions Directory.
To participate in SVP Security Authorization, you must have an security-specific solution. The solution must contain at least two products of the five designated product areas, either an application or a services practice, and must be registered in the Global Solutions directory.
